FAQ
What is the difference between the Performance Card Reader CFexpress B and the Card Reader PKT CFexpress B?
Performance Card Reader
The two readers are built for different workflows – each optimized for specific priorities. The key differences lie in speed, cooling technology, and professional workflow features: Speed & Interface:
- The Performance Card Reader CFexpress B uses USB-C 4.0 Gen 3x2 and delivers transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s – ideal for high-speed, high-volume post-production workflows. The Card Reader PKT CFexpress B supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 with speeds up to 20 Gb/s.
- The Performance Reader features Solid Cool™ active cooling with a low-noise fan, ensuring consistent top performance without thermal throttling. The Card Reader PKT uses passive cooling and is optimized for lighter workloads.
- The Card Reader PKT includes a physical Write-Protect-Switch that allows you to activate Read-Only mode and safeguards your data against unintentional overwrites –especially valuable in critical data management workflows. The Performance Reader features an integrated LED indicator that displays real-time feedback on performance status (i.e. connection speed).
- The Card Reader PKT is ultra-compact and lightweight—ideal for on-the-go use, travel, or camera bag setups. The Performance Reader is still compact but slightly larger and more robust—best suited for studio, DIT carts, or fixed workstations where high-speed performance and stability matter most.
