Solid State Disk

for ultimate performance!

Our Crest SSD drives lead the Consumer SSD scene. The popular SandForce® SF-1222 controller keeps roaring high performance levels steady even with plenty of applications, files and video streams open, with the outstanding responsiveness that constantly amazes whoever takes the big step from conventional hard disk drives to Solid State Drives.

Crest SSD
What makes the difference!

What makes Crest SSD unique

  • Genuine SandForce® controllers. No copy, no second hand, nothing else than what SandForce gives us. Angelbird is an official and proud member of the SandForce-Driven™ programme.
  • NAND memory is what constitutes the body and the performance of an SSD. It’s the memory chips where our data is! Memory chips are produced on a large round wafer, then cut into many little pieces that go inside the finished chips. Those on the side of the wafer are subject to malfunction, bad performance and way shorter lifespan, and are therefore cheaper. Most other companies buy only those cheaper chips in order to keep the price low… And lose your data! Angelbird picks only the chips in the centre with the highest number of working sectors. Other firms can expect over 30% RMA (Return rate) because of that. Angelbird’s RMA is stable at 0.5%, and this is the reason why.
  • Other companies repair returned SSD, change the cover and sell them back to new buyers. Angelbird dismantles non working units and sends brand new ones to customers.
  • Low price means low quality! Check user reviews and forums and see for yourself what it means to use low quality components just for a low cost mad race. It may be low cost to purchase such items, but how much is your data worth? We know at Angelbird, and this is why we do our best to protect it.
  • NAND memory chips aren’t all identical. Some are totally fine, some have a number of bad sectors, that will result in poorer performance, less IOPS and quicker failure. At Angelbird we test each chip before attaching it on our high quality Crest units.
  • Angelbird pays testers, rather than releasing beta firmwares and wait until someone finds a bug, losing their data, losing their dreams, losing their important data. Customers are NOT beta testers for Angelbird, and only stable, proven firmwares are used onto our Crest drives. Your data is important as ours to us.
  • The quality of Crest is not only given by hand picked NAND chips. We also use an eight layer board instead of the canonic six. This costs more, but this protects your data from electromagnetic interference. Again, how important is your data to you? To us it is has major importance.
  • There is a reason why our products are CE, FCC, UL, ROHS certified. We produce them with sense, accuracy and safety in mind. Yes, this costs, but it also shows that we care.

Crest

Do Crest drives support TRIM?

Yes.

Can I use Crest in my laptop?

This depends on your laptop.

The quickest way to check if it will fit is by taking your current Hard Drive out of your laptop. Now the connector of your drive must be a SATA connector, and the height of the drive should be 9.5mm (0,374in) or more.

What sizes are Crest SSD drives available in?

At the moment of writing we have Crest in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB.

What are the differences between Crest SSDs and Crest Expansion Cartridges?

Crest SSD Drives are compatible with any 2.5” drive bay. This means that you can use it in almost any computer and laptop. For computers, which only have 3.5” drive bays, you can use an adapter plate. Unfortunately, you cannot use Crest SSD Drives with all laptops. Be aware that some laptops require a slim 2.5” drive. This means you cannot use Crest SSD Drives.

Crest Expansion Cartridges are specifically designed for use with Wings. They are much smaller and thinner. This allows you to install two Wings in PCIe slots next to each other and while keeping enough room to attach 4 Crest Expansion Cartridges on each Wings. When using Crest SSD Drives (or third party 2.5” drives) there will not be enough room to accommodate many fully loaded Wings with drives next to each other. Another advantage of Crest Expansion Cartridges is that they get less hot and do not obstruct airflow in your computer case. Because of the size, they are not suitable for use in most computers except in combination with Wings.

What is Crest?

Crest is a Solid State Disk (SSD). It allows you to save your files just like a normal Hard Disk Drive (HDD) can.

The main advantage of SSDs is their breathtaking access times, transfer speeds and IOPS.
